The King Who Came To Save - Palm Sunday
In 1964, Beatlemania swept America when four young men from Liverpool stepped off a plane at JFK Airport—and the crowd lost its mind. Flashbulbs. Screams. Chaos. It was unforgettable.
But 2,000 years before that, another arrival shook a city—not with pop music and fanfare, but with palm branches, prophecy, and purpose. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, fulfilling ancient promises and forcing everyone to face the question:
“Who is this?” (Matthew 21:10, CSB)
This message explores Jesus’ triumphal entry on Palm Sunday—a moment not marked by royalty in robes, but by the humility of a King who came to save. The same crowd that shouted “Hosanna!” would later cry “Crucify Him!” Yet Jesus still came, knowing the cross was waiting.
📖 In Matthew 21:1–11, we see:
The King came with purpose (vv. 1–5)
The people responded with praise (vv. 6–9)
The city was stirred with questions (vv. 10–11)
This sermon challenges us to see not just the pageantry, but the purpose behind Palm Sunday. Jesus wasn’t after applause—He came for allegiance. He wasn’t looking for fans—He was calling followers.
If you’ve ever wrestled with what kind of King Jesus really is, or how to respond when He comes humbly instead of how we expected—this message is for you.
