Weekly Devotions - February 12, 2024

Hey everyone, as we spoke about in our message yesterday, God is always speaking to us in many ways.  I pray that you will seek after Him this week with these five small devotionals to kickstart your Bible Study each day.  As always, I encourage you to read the context around our key verses, so my suggestion is to read the entire chapter.
Day 1: Creation's Divine Canvas
God's artistry in creation invites us to discover His presence and character. The complexity and beauty of the world around us are not accidents but intentional works of the Creator, calling us to acknowledge His sovereignty and engage in a relationship with Him.

Job 12:7-10 - "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind."
Reflection: As you walk outside today, observe one aspect of nature that you usually overlook. How does this detail speak to you about God's character?

Day 2: Conscience Aligned with Scripture
Our conscience is a reflection of God's moral law, yet it requires the shaping and refining of Scripture to truly guide us. By aligning our conscience with God's Word, we ensure that our decisions and judgments are rooted in divine truth rather than subjective feelings or societal norms.

Hebrews 5:14 - "But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil."
Reflection: Consider a recent decision you made. Did you consult Scripture in your decision-making process, and how did it align with your conscience?

Day 3: God's Voice in Our Circumstances
Our life's events, whether joyous or challenging, are opportunities to hear God's voice. They remind us of our dependence on Him and encourage us to seek His purpose and perspective, especially during times that test our faith and resilience.

Habakkuk 3:17-18 - "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior."
Reflection: Reflect on a recent difficult circumstance. How might God be using this situation to communicate with you or to grow your faith?

Day 4: Christ, the Heart of Communication
Jesus Christ is the ultimate revelation of God's heart and will. In Him, we find the fullness of God's message to us, and through a relationship with Christ, we gain clarity and understanding of all that God desires to convey.

Colossians 1:15-17 - "The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."
Reflection: How does your daily life reflect your relationship with Jesus? Are there areas where you can invite Him in more fully to guide and shape your actions?

Day 5: The Spirit's Whisper in Our Walk
The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth, echoing the teachings of Jesus and empowering us to live out the Gospel. His gentle promptings lead us to actions and decisions that reflect God's will and bring glory to His name.

1 Corinthians 2:12-13 - "What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words."
Reflection: What is one way the Holy Spirit has prompted you recently, and how did you respond? Are you open to His guidance in your decisions today?
