Welcome to your daily devotions as we dive deeper into The Joy Of Anticipation from our Christmas series, Behold A Savior Is Born!
Day 1: Joy in Anticipation Reading: Luke 1:39-45
In those days Mary set out and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judah where she entered Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped inside her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and your child will be blessed! How could this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For you see, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped for joy inside me. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill what he has spoken to her!”
Luke 1:39-45
As we read about Elizabeth's joyful reaction to Mary's visit, we're reminded that true joy often comes from anticipation of what God will do, not just what He has already done. Elizabeth and her unborn child rejoiced at the mere presence of the unborn Jesus. How often do we overlook the joy of God's promises, focusing only on our current circumstances? Today, reflect on the promises God has given you. What future blessings are you anticipating? How can you cultivate a spirit of joy in the waiting? Remember, our God is always working, even when we can't see it. Let this anticipation fill you with hope and excitement for what's to come.
