“Always Seeing” Small Group Discussion
Bible Reading:
1 Peter 5:6-11 (CSB)
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may
exalt you at the proper time, casting all your cares on him, because he cares
about you."
Psalm 33:13-15 (CSB)
"The Lord looks down from heaven; he observes everyone. He gazes on all the
inhabitants of the earth from his dwelling place. He forms the hearts of them all;
he considers all their works."
Colossians 3:3-4 (CSB)
"For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is
your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”
If you would like to deepen the Bible Study (if you have time), after you read each
passage of Scripture ask the questions below.
1. What does this passage say? (summary)
2. What did this passage mean to its original audience?
3. What does this passage tell us about God?
4. What does this passage tell us about man?
5. What does this passage demand of me?
6. How does this passage change the way I relate to people?
7. What does this passage prompt me to pray?
Observation Questions:
1. What does it mean to humble oneself under the mighty hand of God
according to 1 Peter 5:6-7?
2. How does Psalm 33:13-15 describe the way God observes humanity?
3. In Colossians 3:3-4, what does it mean for one's life to be hidden with Christ
in God?
Interpretation Questions:
1. How does the act of casting all cares on God demonstrate trust and humility
in His sovereignty?
2. Considering Psalm 33:13-15, what implications does God's observation of all
human works have on the way individuals should live?
3. What transformation occurs when a person's life is hidden with Christ, as
mentioned in Colossians 3:3-4?
Application Questions:
1. Reflect on a recent situation where you felt the need to take control. How can
you practice humbling yourself and casting your cares on God in a similar
situation this week?
2. Think of a specific action or decision you are facing. How can the knowledge
that God sees and considers all your works influence your choice?
3. Identify a moment from the past week when you felt down or overwhelmed.
How can you remind yourself of God's care for you in those moments moving
forward?
4. Is there an area in your life where you struggle to see yourself as God sees
you, through the righteousness of Christ? What is one step you can take this
week to align your self-perception with God's view?
5. Consider your daily interactions. How can you consciously live out the truth
that your life is hidden with Christ in your relationships with others?
