Week 4 – Checkmate
Esther 8–10

Big Idea
God's purposes cannot be stopped, and His faithfulness should never be forgotten.

I. God's Deliverance Often Comes Through Faithful Action

Esther 8:1–17

Haman was defeated, but his decree still remained.
Esther once again courageously interceded for her people.
God worked through Esther, Mordecai, and the obedience of His people.

Key Truth:
Trusting God's sovereignty never removes our responsibility to obey.

II. God Turns Mourning Into Joy

Esther 9:1–19

The day of destruction became the day of deliverance.
God reversed what appeared to be certain defeat.
God's purposes always prevail over the plans of His enemies.

God is able to turn our greatest fears into opportunities to display His faithfulness.

III. Remember What God Has Done

Esther 9:20–10:3

Mordecai established the Feast of Purim.
God's people were called to remember His deliverance.
Remembering God's faithfulness strengthens our faith for the future.

We honor God when we intentionally remember His faithfulness.

Gospel Connection

The greatest reversal in history was not in Persia—it was at the cross.

Jesus willingly took our place, bearing the penalty for our sin. Through His death and resurrection, He defeated sin and death and offers forgiveness and eternal life to everyone who places their faith in Him.

Then share one of those stories with a family member, friend, or fellow believer as an encouragement to trust the Lord.
