Central Truth
An intentional Christian life begins with wholehearted trust in God, complete surrender to His authority, and confidence in His direction.

1. Trust the Guide, Not Your Instincts
Proverbs 3:5
- Trusting God requires surrendering our confidence in our own understanding.
- Our feelings, experiences, and limited perspectives are not reliable substitutes for God's wisdom.
- Genuine faith means trusting God's character even when we cannot understand His direction.

Where have I become so confident in my own judgment that I've stopped seeking God's direction?

2. Surrender Every Step of the Journey
Proverbs 3:6a
- Acknowledging God involves more than recognizing His existence; it requires submitting to His authority.
- There should be no area of our lives that is off-limits to God.
- Genuine trust is demonstrated through obedience, especially when God's commands challenge our desires.

Is there an area of my life where I acknowledge God's authority with my words but resist it through my actions?

3. Follow God Even When You Cannot See the Destination
Proverbs 3:6b
- God's promise to direct our paths does not guarantee a life without difficulty.
- Difficult circumstances are not necessarily evidence that we've wandered outside God's will.
- Our ultimate purpose is not personal comfort or worldly success but becoming more like Jesus Christ.

Am I willing to continue obeying God even when I don't understand what He's doing?

[ ] Monday: Identify one area where you've been trying to maintain control instead of trusting God.
[ ] Tuesday: Examine a decision you're facing in light of Scripture rather than your emotions.
[ ] Wednesday: Surrender one area of your life you've been keeping from God's authority.
[ ] Thursday: Entrust an unresolved situation to God while remaining faithful to what He's already commanded.
[ ] Friday: Take one specific step of obedience in response to what God has shown you this week.

Spend five minutes each morning reading Scripture, praying, and surrendering your plans to God.

Opening Question
Have you ever been completely convinced you knew where you were going, only to discover you were lost? What made it difficult to admit you needed directions?

Understanding the Scripture
1. Proverbs 3:5 commands us to trust the Lord with all our hearts. What is the difference between trusting God and simply believing that God exists?

2. What does it mean to rely on our own understanding? How can we distinguish between exercising God-given wisdom and trusting too heavily in our own judgment?

3. Proverbs 3:6 tells us to acknowledge God in all our ways. What does this look like in ordinary areas of life such as work, marriage, finances, and entertainment?

4. Why is it important to understand that God's promise to make our paths straight does not guarantee a life without suffering or difficulty?
Personal Application

5. What is one area of your life where you find it particularly difficult to surrender control to God? Why do you think that area is so challenging?

6. Can you identify a time when obeying God's Word required you to make a decision that went against your personal preferences or instincts? What did that experience teach you?

7. Sometimes we ask God for direction while ignoring something He has already commanded in Scripture. How can we recognize when we're doing this?

8. How can we encourage one another to remain faithful during seasons when God's direction seems unclear or our circumstances become difficult?
